Quake of 6.1 magnitude strikes off California: USGS Dec 14th 2012, 10:59 LONDON | Fri Dec 14, 2012 5:59am EST LONDON (Reuters) - A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck 142 kilometers (88 miles) southwest of the coast of California at 5:36 a.m. EDT (1036 GMT), the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Friday. It said the quake was recorded at a depth of 11 km.
