Texas executes inmate convicted in 1990 murder and rape Apr 10th 2013, 00:12 AUSTIN, Tex | Tue Apr 9, 2013 8:12pm EDT AUSTIN, Tex (Reuters) - Texas executed a convicted murderer, Rickey Lewis, on Tuesday who killed a man in 1990 and then raped the dead man's fiancée, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Eleven other Texas convicts are scheduled to be executed before the end of July. Texas has executed more people than any other U.S. state since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976, and last year put 15 people to death.
