LOS ANGELES | Tue Jun 4, 2013 10:29pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The FBI searched the offices of a California state senator and the Latino legislative caucus on Tuesday, said a security official for the legislature.

Tony Beard, chief sergeant at arms for the California Senate, said in a written statement that the searches of the office of state Senator Ron Calderon, a Southern California Democrat, and the Latino caucus office took place during the afternoon.

Beard said the FBI's search warrants were sealed and that the Senate had no information about their contents. "The Senate has and will continue to fully cooperate with the agents in this matter," he said.
