Gunman opens fire in Phoenix suburb, 5 dead: local media May 2nd 2012, 21:57 GILBERT, Ariz | Wed May 2, 2012 5:57pm EDT GILBERT, Ariz (Reuters) - Five people were killed on Wednesday when a gunman opened fire in a residential area in a Phoenix suburb, the Arizona Republic reported on its website. The shootings occurred in a residential area of single-family homes in the city of Gilbert, the website said. Aerial photographs showed a tree-lined street of red tiled homes cordoned off with police tape, with more than a half dozen patrol cars parked close by. Gilbert police did not immediately respond to queries about the shooting.
