Grand jury voted to indict JonBenet Ramsey's parents for child abuse in 1999 Oct 25th 2013, 16:09 DENVER | Fri Oct 25, 2013 11:54am EDT DENVER (Reuters) - Colorado authorities unsealed documents on Friday confirming that a grand jury voted to indict the parents of slain child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey in 1999, although a prosecutor decided against bringing the case against them. In 2008 another prosecutor cleared the couple in their daughter's 1996 murder, which captivated the American public in the 1990s and remains unsolved to this day. A Colorado judge on Wednesday had ordered the release of the 1999 Boulder County Grand Jury indictments against John Bennett Ramsey and Patricia Paugh Ramsey. Authorities only released the one-page "true bill" against each parent accusing them of child abuse and accessory to a crime. Although the office of then-District Attorney Alex Hunter impaneled a grand jury to investigate the Ramseys, Hunter declined to sign the true bill or prosecute the couple at the time. The slaying of 6-year-old JonBenet has been covered exhaustively by the media and been the subject of several books and at least two documentaries.
